What is Laser Resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing is a non-surgical procedure to address medium depth to deep lines in the face, as well as the progressive loss of skin elasticity.

Laser Resurfacing employs a carbon dioxide laser to vaporize the upper layers of skin, layer by layer, depending on the number of applications. The ideal candidate for carbon dioxide laser resurfacing is someone with a fair complexion and deep lines. During the healing phase, your body lays down new collagen fibers that tighten your skin and fill in previous lines.

How long will it last?

How long the laser’s tightening and smoothing effect lasts on your skin depends on your overall health, on how well you take care of your skin and whether you have continued sun damage. Multiple studies demonstrate that new collagen grown during healing after laser resurfacing remains in the skin permanently. However, this new collagen is subject to the same pressures and consequences of aging and sun damage as the older collagen.
